The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and the current head of the OSCE, Ignatius Cassis, after his visits to Ukraine and Russia, said that he presented three groups of ideas on behalf of the organization in the two capitals and is now waiting for a response.

Details: According to him, he presented three groups of “absolutely identical” ideas to the two countries.

The first concerns the discussion about Europe’s security architecture in the context of the tendency of the US to “abandon this responsibility”.

The second group concerns how the OSCE can be useful during the peace process and after the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. “We have the expertise, we have the experience, and of course we know very well that there is mistrust because of the previous experience with the observation mission a few years ago,” Cassis said.

The third group of ideas concerns what reforms should be carried out in the OSCE as an organization to “be more open to listen and speak about others, and not remain only in monologues.”

“Both sides have been open to discussing these ideas and now we are waiting for feedback on them. Of course we discussed it together, but now they have to think about it, discuss it internally and then give feedback through their missions here in Vienna so that the organization can function,” Cassis said.

We will remind, after Kassis’s visit to Ukraine, the OSCE announced that they had presented Kyiv with “tools” for maintaining peace after the cessation of hostilities.

In Moscow, the head of the OSCE held talks with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov.
