IEM Krakow was remembered not only for the struggle on the server, but also for the emotional ceremony before the start of the playoffs. The Danish Counter-Strike legend took the stage with the main trophy of the tournament – Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen.

Before the appearance of the legendary player, the presenter asked the fans in the arena to turn on the flashlights on their phones and give a warm welcome to the special guest. Under the light of thousands of lights, dupreeh carried the IEM Krakow cup, causing thunderous applause and a real wave of nostalgia among the fans.

This moment had a deep background. Peter’s father was one of the key figures in his life and career – it was he who supported his son’s interest in e-sports and bought him his first computer. In 2018, dupreeh’s father experienced a heavy fall in a train, broke his arm, and against the background of cancer, the pain became unbearable. This became a harbinger of the tragic finale.

In 2019, Peter’s father passed away from cancer – shortly before the IEM Katowice Major 2019. Despite the personal tragedy, dupreeh went to the tournament and won the major, dedicating the victory to his father. This triumph is forever etched as one of the most emotional moments in CS history.
