Detecting such a boat is quite difficult, because it has small dimensions, and also does not emit radio waves due to the use of optical cable for communication.

New naval drones threatening Odesa and Mykolaiv were shown in Russia (video)The new Russian BEC on optical fiber has already gone into mass production / screenshotIn Russia, tests of new unmanned fiber-optic boats carrying fiber-optic FPV drones were shown. As Defense Express experts write, this development increases the possibility of enemy strikes on Odesa and Mykolaiv.

Thus, the Russian research and production center “Ushkuynyk” published a video of a test in the waters of the Black Sea of the new unmanned boat “Skorlupa”, the main feature of which is communication through optical fiber. In the body, it has a special compartment with sliding doors where FPV drones are located. According to experts, up to two drones can be located in this compartment, most likely, we are talking about FPV drones “Prince Vandal Novgorodsky on fiber optics.

During the test, an FPV drone took off from the boat, which then simulated an attack on the same “Shell” BEK from which it took off, or a similar one that was used as a target.

As noted in Defense Express, Russia has been developing such unmanned boats with optical fiber control for a long time, although “Skorlupa” is the first to go into mass production.

Although its range and other characteristics are not known, it can carry a fairly large fiber optic coil, analysts note. Also, judging by the nature of the tests, the enemy plans to use the “Shell” boats to intercept Ukrainian BECs while still at sea far from the shore:

“But nothing prevents them from using it to strike Ukrainian coastal cities, such as Odesa or Mykolaiv, from where the Russian-controlled territory is only about 60 km away.”

At the same time, it is quite difficult to detect such a boat, because it has small dimensions, and also does not emit radio waves, due to the use of an optical cable for communication. In addition, it carries FPV drones on fiber optics, which are also difficult to detect and intercept.

Experts predict that, first of all, the targets for these FPV drones will probably be various means of air defense located at a distance of several tens of kilometers from the coast. After all, for the fpv “Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky” on optical fiber in the modernized version, a range of 50-65 km is announced.

There are problems in the Russian Federation due to the shutdown of StarlinkDue to the massive use of Starlink terminals on Russian drones, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine contacted billionaire Elon Musk. Already on February 5, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced that the Starlink terminals for the occupiers were blocked. Only those terminals included in the so-called “white list” will work on the territory of Ukraine.

A source at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed UNIAN that the blocking of “Starlinks” significantly limited the activity of Russian troops at the front.
