Power outages in five regions due to Russian shelling – “Ukrenergo”

In the Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk regions, on the morning of February 6, there are consumers without electricity as a result of Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, reports “Ukrenergo”.

“Emergency recovery work has already begun wherever security conditions allow. “Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power to all disconnected subscribers as soon as possible,” the message reads.

According to the company, due to the consequences of previous Russian attacks in all regions of Ukraine, capacity limitation schedules for industry, as well as hourly shutdown schedules for all categories of consumers, are being applied today in all regions of Ukraine, and emergency power outages have been forced to apply in some areas.

Also, according to Ukrenergo, 109 settlements in Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Khmelnytskyi regions were completely or partially cut off due to bad weather.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declared that it qualifies the Russian strikes on energy, which deprive Ukrainians of heating against the background of severe frosts, as acts of genocide.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, after a meeting on the emergency situation in the energy industry, which arose as a result of Russian strikes, announced that on February 4, the most difficult situation occurred in Kyiv and the region, in Kharkiv and the region, in the Sumy region and Poltava region.

“Ukrenergo” reported a “significant number” of consumers in Kyiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Odesa regions without power, as well as damaged energy facilities in several regions as a result of a massive Russian attack on the night of February 3.

Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that there was “severe damage” to the Darnytsia CHP plant in Kyiv, which was focused only on the production of heat for people, and that its restoration would take “a considerable amount of time.” According to the mayor of Kyiv, we are talking about at least two months. Until then, it will be impossible to restore heat supply in more than 1,100 houses in Kyiv, Klitschko added.
