“You know, it’s not serious, it’s some kind of pathetic diplomacy. If you want to call and talk about something seriously, call, Putin will always pick up the phone. He will always listen to any proposals. And if it comes to serious proposals, then I have to assure you that they will not remain without a serious, concrete, practical reaction,” said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Two weeks ago, Lavrov called the French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement about plans to talk with Vladimir Putin “working for the public”.
We will remind:
- This week, Macron told reporters that the Elysee Palace was continuing to work to restore dialogue with Putin, adding that it was doing so in consultation with Ukraine.
- It was unofficially reported that on February 4, Macron’s diplomat visited Moscow for negotiations on Ukraine.
- At the same time, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinia and Estonian President Alar Karis urged to appoint a special European envoy for talks with Russia, naming Macron as one of the potential candidates.
- At the same time in the government of Estonia sharply criticized this appeal of the president and emphasized that they see no other way but further pressure on Russia and its diplomatic isolation.
