“In the direction of Kostyantynivka, the enemy launched 18 attacks near the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, Kleban-Bik, and towards Kostyantynivka, Ivanopil, Stepanivka, Novopavlivka, Sofiivka. In the Pokrovsky direction, our defenders stopped 31 assault actions of the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Myrnograd, Pokrovsk, Kotlyna, Udachne, Molodetske, Filia and in the direction of Novopodgorodny, Novopavlivka, New Donbas… In the Gulyaipil direction, there were 23 attacks by the occupiers – in the areas of Gulyaipol, Myrny and in the direction of Dobropill, Zaliznychny, Pryluk, Varvarivka, St. John’s wort, Zeleny,” the message reads.
Also, according to the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fighting continued in the South-Slobozhansk, Kupyansk, Lymansk, Slovyansk, Oleksandrivsk, Orihiv and Prydniprovsk directions.
The day before, RFE/RL’s sources at the General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that Russian forces had reduced the number of assaults on the front after Ukraine and SpaceX agreed to block unregistered Starlink satellite internet terminals. According to the report, the number of assaults has decreased in some places, and in some areas they have stopped altogether.
The day before, the American Institute for the Study of War stated in its report that Russian forces are creating the conditions for future offensive operations against Kostiantynivka, using the lessons learned during the Pokrovsk offensive.
On January 22, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the Defense Forces continue to restrain Russian troops in Pokrovsk and Myrnograd in Donetsk region, as small groups of the Russian Federation are trying to infiltrate the northern regions of both cities. He noted that as a result of the active assault actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, another attempt by the Russian invaders to seize these settlements was thwarted.
Fighting in Pokrovsk has been going on since October 2025, when the Russian army managed to break through to the city after several months of fighting on its slopes. Almost immediately, Russian soldiers began to be recorded in Pokrovsk’s satellite city of Mirnograd.
The Pokrovsky direction, according to the reports of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, constantly leads in terms of the number of Russian assaults.
