The Ukrainian defense company Fire Point is completing preparations for the adoption of new FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles.
It is reported ts in interview of the company’s co-founders, Iryna Tereh and Denys Shtilerman, for DW .
These missiles, which are positioned as more economical alternatives to Western counterparts, have the ability to hit strategic targets in the deep rear of Russia.
The company’s co-founders described their tactical and technical characteristics in an interview, noting that these models will allow Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities.
The FP-7, with a range of up to 300 km, is a more affordable alternative to the American ATACMS system, while the FP-9 can hit targets at a distance of 800–850 km. Iryna Tereh drew attention to the fact that, unlike drones and cruise missiles, ballistic missiles have a higher chance of overcoming Russian air defense. Both missiles are currently undergoing the final stages of testing.
It is expected that the codification and official adoption of the FP-9 by the Armed Forces of Ukraine will significantly strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and provide new opportunities for countermeasures in the context of a military conflict.
