He confirmed that Russia tried to eliminate him several times, but noted that over time he adapted to this danger, no longer feeling the fear he felt at the beginning of the war.
“When we talk about fear, you know, Russia has already tried to eliminate me several times. In a certain sense, I no longer feel the fear that I had at the beginning of the war. I’m used to it, it’s part of my life,” he said.
This situation became an integral part of his life.
Zelensky also expressed his thoughts on possible contacts with Moscow. He emphasized that the current pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin is insufficient to start negotiations, which, in his opinion, should be based on real leverage. Zelenskyi noted that Putin seeks to humiliate Europe, so dialogue without efforts makes no sense.
“Putin is interested in humiliating Europe,” the Ukrainian president said.
He emphasized that talking with Russia without real leverage will not lead to results and can only strengthen the Kremlin’s position.
In the conditions of the continuation of the war in Ukraine, the president recalled the numerous attempts to kill him, which indicates the seriousness of the threat and concern about security. According to intelligence data, as of 2024, about ten attempts have been recorded, taking into account the general situation in the country, where, according to Zelensky, about 55 thousand Ukrainian soldiers have died since the beginning of the invasion.
