On Thursday, February 5, 2026, in all regions of Ukraine, hourly blackout schedules will be in effect 24 hours a day. Power limit schedules will also be applied to industrial consumers.
Ukrenergo writes about this.
The decision was made due to a significant deficit in the energy system caused by the consequences of massive missile and drone attacks by the Russian Federation, in particular, the latest strikes on thermal power plants and substations in eight regions of Ukraine.
The situation remains critical due to extreme frosts (up to -20°C in places), which cause additional load on the network. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the most difficult situation persists in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy and Poltava regions. Power engineers work around the clock to stabilize the system, but the amount of damage forces consumption to be limited to prevent system crashes.
On February 4, Ukrenergo announced the introduction of emergency power outages in several regions of Ukraine due to a critical situation in the energy system that arose as a result of Russian shelling.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the financing of the first stage of the new state program “SvitloDim”, aimed at providing multi-apartment buildings with autonomous energy sources.
