– Mr. Volodymyr, what will be your conclusion of the gathering in Turkey?
– We managed to do a lot. First, we were able to assess the level of players we had at our disposal compared to those performers who were called up earlier. And secondly, we had very useful sparring sessions with strong opponents. Therefore, we are satisfied with this collection. It is also nice that all football players tried to prove themselves, the discipline was at the highest level. Maybe everything didn’t work out for someone, but it happens, you have to keep working hard and wait for a call to the national team.
– In general, were there any players of the Ukrainian national team who pleasantly surprised you during the competition?
– Of course, there were such guys, but for now I will not name names. When the next gathering comes, you will understand who I mean.
– Was goalkeeper Artur Skakun the hero of the second meeting with the Turks, who parried a penalty in the last seconds of the game?
– Artur did his job well. He is well done if only because, despite the first call to the national team, he felt confident. I can only be happy for him in terms of motivation and psychological stability, it will help him a lot in the future.
– You also wanted to play on January 31…
– There were supposed to be four teams in this tournament, but for various reasons only three national teams played. We put a lot of effort into finding a sparring partner for ourselves, but it didn’t work out. In addition, several players and coaches in our team also fell ill…
– What are the future plans of this national team?
– We plan to take part in the international tournament, which will also be held in Turkey, on the dates of UEFA, from March 23 to 31. In addition to the hosts, the Norwegian national team has already confirmed its participation in the competition.
