The Center for Public Health reports: the intensive rate reaches 410.6 per 100,000 population — this is the background level, but with a downward trend.
Actively circulating influenza A(H1N1)pdm09, A(H3) and B viruses were detected in 80% of regions, including Kyiv. Thousands of patients, including hundreds of children, were hospitalized, mostly with complications such as pneumonia.
Fatalities are inevitable: 6 deaths from suspected influenza have been recorded, mostly due to type A viruses. One patient died of adenovirus pneumonia, highlighting the dangers of more than just influenza.
Experts urge risk groups — doctors, pregnant women, the elderly — to get vaccinated immediately, because vaccination reduces complications by 60-80%.
