Direct speech Stefanishina: “The embassy today (February 3 – ed.) handed over to the State Department (USA – ed.) detailed information about all the shelling that took place since the announcement of Russia’s so-called “agreement” to the armistice. Very detailed information was provided today based on the results of the night shelling.”

Details: “Suspilne” notes that the information was prepared in cooperation with the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Energy.
Stefanishyna is convinced that these data will affect the negotiations, as they undermine Russia’s position. The ambassador hopes that the American side will choose the “less illusions, more pressure” approach.
She also said that the work of the Ukrainian delegation will primarily focus on lobbying in Congress for a bill on sanctions against countries that buy Russian energy resources. At least three such bills have been registered in both chambers, and the embassy calls for them to be put to a vote.
According to Stefanishyna, the work on the texts and the search for compromises is currently ongoing, and the most important thing is the “mobilization of the will” to bring the projects to the vote. All draft laws are bipartisan, and compromises have been found even on sensitive issues of tariff policy, the ambassador added.
What preceded: Trump said that Russian ruler Vladimir Putin “kept his word” regarding the declared “energy truce”.
Prehistory:
- US President Donald Trump said he personally asked Russian leader Vladimir Putin to stop airstrikes against Ukraine for a week due to severe frost.
- On Thursday, January 29, Russian pro-war publics began to spread information on social networks about the order banning attacks on Ukrainian energy, which came on January 28.
- Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in turn, confirmed that the Ukrainian negotiating team discussed the issue of ending strikes on energy infrastructure in Abu Dhabi.
- Very low temperatures are recorded in Ukraine. As a result of the massive Russian attack on January 24 and damage to critical infrastructure, half of the capital’s housing stock was left without heat supply. As of February 2, there are still more than 200 houses without heating in Kyiv.
- “Ukrenergo” is forced to implement emergency power outages almost every day.
We will remind:
On the night of February 3, Russia carried out a combined attack on Ukraine using various types of air-launched, ground-based and strike UAV missiles, the air defense destroyed 450 enemy targets out of 521 launched. 27 missiles and 31 strike UAVs were hit at 27 locations.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the work of the Ukrainian delegation at the negotiations on a peaceful settlement will be adjusted due to the attack on energy by the aggressor state on February 3.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that he believes that the Russians ignored the request of the United States and interrupted the energy truce, delivering a powerful blow to Ukraine on the night of February 3.
Also, after the nighttime Russian missile attack on Ukraine, Zelensky said that he was waiting for the reaction of the USA, because it was a personal request from Donald Trump to stop energy strikes.
