After the night Russian shelling on February 3, 853 high-rise buildings were left without heat in Kharkiv. More than a thousand houses were under threat, but thanks to the installed modular boiler houses, it was possible to connect some of them. Currently, about 270,000 residents of four districts of the city remain without heating. Mayor Igor Terekhov informed journalists about this.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that houses in Kholodnohirskyi, Novobavarskyi, Shevchenkivskyi districts and partially in Kyivskyi were under critical threat. “Previously, 1,200 houses were at risk, but thanks to modular boiler houses, we managed to revive 300 high-rise buildings. Currently, 853 residential buildings are without heat supply,” Terekhov said. According to him, turning off the heat became the only possible solution in the cold to save indoor heating systems. “There was a decision to drain the heat carrier, because this is the only solution in such cold weather that makes it possible to save indoor systems,” explained the mayor.

As a result of shelling, critical infrastructure was significantly damaged. Terekhov reported heavy hits to the private company’s thermal power station, which supplies part of Kharkiv with heat, as well as to the transformer substation. Utilities are working with utilities to restore power as soon as possible.

Alina Titova, head of the administration of the Kholodnohirsky district, spoke about the work of utility workers on the night of the attack: “In our district, 163 communally owned buildings and 28 condominium buildings had their systems shut down. The work started around half past three in the morning and ended around seven in the morning. All teams worked. Utility workers are really heroes, they did an incredible job in such a cold weather.”

Despite the lack of heat, the electricity supply in the houses is not turned off. “There were negotiations with Kyiv, with the government, and there are certain agreements to increase the limits. So that homes without heat are connected to electricity supply on a stable basis,” Terekhov added.

We will remind that more than 104,000 subscribers remain without heat, which is about 270,000 people. City officials are urging residents to stay calm and follow all safety measures on cold days, while utility services continue to work to restore heating.

Today, February 3, Russian occupiers attacked a multi-story building in the Saltiv district of Kharkiv. The enemy used the Shahed drone to strike. reported the mayor of the city Ihor Terekhov and the head of Kharkiv OVA Oleg Synegubov in Telegram.
