NATO Chairman Mark Rutte made another statement during his official stay in Kyiv on February 3. He assured that Ukraine’s partners will find all the 15.5 billion dollars needed for armaments for the Defense Forces.
Key theses:
- Rutte acknowledges the uneven nature of funding for the PURL program.
- According to his words, now they are trying to settle this problem.
Rutte promised to increase military aid to Ukraine Media representatives asked the head of NATO whether Kyiv’s allies would really be able to to collect as much as 15.5 billion to provide funds for the PURL program, which was previously requested by Ukraine.
According to Rutte, this task is quite possible to implement, despite the fact that we are talking about a huge amount.
I am quite sure that the funds will be there, because we all realize how important they are.

Mark Rutte
Secretary General of NATO
He does not hide that Kyiv’s partners often face the problem of uneven funding.
Rütte pointed out that two-thirds of the partners are currently members of the PURL program, but the distribution of the financial burden is still a topic of discussion.
The head of NATO does not hide the contradiction of this situation, because some countries provide assistance to Ukraine at their own expense, and some do not.
Now there are individual states that are doing a lot, many who are doing something, and the smallest part is not doing anything. But in reality, we need a better distribution of funding and we are working on it, added Rutte.
