Former US President Donald Trump announced his intention to sue comedian Trevor Noah after his joke about Trump and Jeffrey Epstein at the Grammy Awards ceremony, informs UNNciting the BBC.
Details The host of the event, Noah, observed: “Best song of the year is the Grammy Award, which every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which is understandable, since Epstein’s island no longer exists, he needs a new one to vacation with Bill Clinton.”
According to the publication, “Trump is known to have had a relationship with Epstein for many years, but insists that he knew nothing about his wrongdoing and that their relationship ended around 2004.” There is no reason to believe he ever visited Epstein’s private island, and no criminal charges have been filed against him by Epstein’s victims. The US Department of Justice noted that the accusations against him are baseless and false.
Trump responded to Noah’s joke by announcing that he would “send his lawyers to file a lawsuit.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Noah falsely stated about me that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein’s Island. That is not true! I can’t vouch for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein’s Island, not even close to it, and prior to this false and defamatory statement, I have never been accused of being there, not even by the fake media. Noah, a total loser, better off deal with the truth, and do it quickly.”
He added, “Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
Epstein was found dead in his New York prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, more than a decade after he was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution.
He purchased his private island in 1998. Some victims claim they were trafficked and abused.
In recent years, Trump has initiated lawsuits against several media organizations, including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
In December, he filed a multibillion-dollar lawsuit in a Florida court accusing the BBC of defamation and breach of trade practice law over the editing of Panorama.
Noah is a South African comedian who hosted The Daily Show on Comedy Central in the US for seven years.
