The SBU and the SBU reported the suspicion to the commander of one of the military units of the Kyiv region. He is accused of organizing a scheme to steal food that was supposed to be given to subordinate fighters.

In November 2025, in one of the military units, law enforcement officers exposed the theft of products worth more than UAH 3 million. Then they reported the suspicions to the head of the cafeteria, the instructor and the driver.
During the subsequent pre-trial investigation, the investigators found out that the organizer of the scheme was the commander of the unit. It was he who created the conditions for the systematic theft of food and provided cover for subordinates.
According to the investigation, the commander appointed a trusted person as head of the canteen, who directly organized the theft of products.
Subsequently, her daughter was appointed to the position of head of the food warehouse, which made it possible to receive and issue food products without control.
Some of them were not actually used to prepare food for military personnel.
In addition, on the recommendation of the head of the canteen, the commander appointed a canteen instructor, who did not exercise proper control over the placement of products and compliance of the volumes of prepared dishes with the approved menu.
Also, the commander allowed the use of a service minibus for the transportation of products, including stolen ones, and after detecting violations did not notify the law enforcement authorities, actually ensuring the smooth functioning of the scheme.
Products have been stolen at least twice a month since January 2025.
Five episodes of criminal activity were documented.
The commander was informed of the suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 27, Part 4 of Art. 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft of military property committed by a group of persons under a prior conspiracy under martial law). He was remanded in custody with the possibility of bail.
The law enforcement officers continue to establish all the persons involved in the embezzlement and the exact amount of damages caused to the state.
