The National Police has completed the sixth stage of the “Guardian” special operation, which exposes schemes for avoiding military service.
According to the results of the checks, 110 servicemen and civilians were charged with suspicion.
According to law enforcement officials, the perpetrators massively used forged medical certificates and fictitious documents about the alleged need to care for relatives with disabilities. It was these papers that were submitted to the relevant authorities to obtain postponements from mobilization or early termination of service.
During the inspections, it became clear that in some cases the people who were formally supposed to be cared for by the suspects did not have an established disability or did not need constant supervision. In other episodes, medical documents contained inaccurate information about the health of men of military age.
In addition, the law enforcement officers documented the facts when servicemen not only stopped serving with the help of fake certificates, but also illegally received the monetary payments stipulated by the law.
Based on the collected evidence, the investigators notified 110 persons of suspicion. The actions of the defendants are qualified under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Prior to this, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed a corruption mechanism in one of the regional territorial recruitment centers of the Mykolayiv region, where the official personally “wrote off” conscripts with the help of unauthorized intervention in the electronic system.
