The capital police detained a 47-year-old man from Kyiv who set off fireworks in Sviatoshyn district, trying to impress a girl during a romantic trip around the city.

The incident happened last Saturday and was discovered thanks to the monitoring of social networks. The man faces up to five years in prison on charges of hooliganism.
Law enforcement officers discovered a video recording of the launch of pyrotechnics in one of the publications on social networks. Operatives immediately arrived at the scene and conducted a thorough inspection of the area.
During the inspection, the police found and seized the cardboard packaging from the used pyrotechnic device, which became an important material evidence in the case.
The investigation was carried out by operatives of the Sviatoshyn police department together with the criminal investigation unit of the capital’s main department and criminal analysis analysts.
With the joint efforts of the law enforcement officers, they quickly established the identity of the violator.
The man was detained in accordance with Article 298 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, which regulates the procedure for the detention of suspects.
