Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi regional prosecutor’s office, together with the State Security Bureau, exposed a corruption scheme during the purchase of official housing for rescuers of the State Emergency Service in the Chernivtsi region.

According to the investigation, the former deputy head of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of the region was informed of the suspicion of misappropriation of budget funds in particularly large amounts by abuse of official position.
In 2023–2024, the official headed the tender commission for the purchase of official housing and signed sales contracts and acts of acceptance and transfer of apartments, despite the fact that they did not meet the tender documentation, construction and sanitary standards.
As a result, the state spent almost 20 million hryvnias on the purchase of seven apartments, unfit for living, which were to be given to the rescuers as official housing.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the territorial department of the SBU in the city of Khmelnytskyi under the operational support of the SBU in the Chernivtsi region.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine eliminated a large-scale corruption scheme to avoid mobilization in one of the district military medical commissions (MMC) in Dnipropetrovsk region. During the searches, more than 300,000 US dollars in cash were discovered and seized from the head of the VLK at the local TCC.
