Latvia calls for a ban on the provision of “maritime” services to Russian vessels in the EU

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braje, called for banning European companies from providing “maritime services” to Russian ships.

Details: Brahe reminded that on February 1, the reduced marginal price for Russian crude oil exported by sea began to operate in the EU – $44.10 per barrel.

“The next step should be a complete ban on maritime services to ensure that European companies do not support Russian trade and reduce the revenues of the Russian budget,” she urged.

The ban on the provision of maritime services to Russian vessels is one of the expected components of the 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia, which are planned to be adopted symbolically on February 24, the fourth anniversary of the full-scale war.

The European Commission is expected to publish a proposal on the contents of the package next week.

France wants the 20th package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation to be “particularly tough” on the “shadow fleet”.
