Ukraine and the North Atlantic Alliance have agreed on a roadmap for defense cooperation for the current year. Among the key areas are the strengthening of air defense, the development of the F-16 aviation component, HIMARS systems and the introduction of innovative technologies to ensure superiority on the battlefield.

The agreements were reached as a result of the meeting of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov with high-ranking NATO officials – Patrick Turner and Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, which took place on January 31, 2026.
The Ministry of Defense noted that during the negotiations, the Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude to the Alliance for stable support and effective coordination of critical aid.
“Mykhailo Fedorov thanked NATO for consistent support and effective coordination of critical defense assistance, in particular within the framework of the PURL initiative, through which Ukraine receives the necessary ammunition for air defense. The key priority now is to protect the sky, and for this Ukraine is transforming the system of “small” air defense. The parties agreed on the key priorities of cooperation – the strengthening of air defense, the development of Patriot, F-16 and HIMARS, as well as joint work on technological superiority,” the ministry said.
It is also emphasized that Ukraine shares with its partners unique combat experience, real data from the front and already tested technological solutions.
Coordination of the Rammstein format together with Germany and Great Britain has been identified as a separate direction. The goal is to speed up decision-making and the delivery of the necessary defense assistance to Ukraine.
