Apparently, Meloni’s face inspired the Italian artist to create a church painting.

As Reuters writes, the Ministry of Culture decided to investigate this case, and Maloney herself reacted ironically.
Local journalists reported that after restoration, the face of one of the two angels in the chapel of the Basilica of St. Lawrence in Luchyna began to resemble Georgia Maloney. Although before, the angel looked different, and was similar to an ordinary cherub.
The culture ministry said it had instructed Rome’s chief artistic heritage official to conduct an inspection of the restored painting before “deciding what to do next”. And opposition politicians even complained that they cannot allow art and culture to “become a tool of propaganda.”
Priest Daniele Micheletti, in a comment to the news agency ANSA, explained that the decoration in the chapel was recently restored after water damage. The originals only date back to 2000, so they are not under any heritage protection. The restoration was carried out by the same artist who created the original painting, Bruno Valentetti. He denied suggestions that he was altering the image, telling reporters: “I restored what was there before… 25 years ago.”
Meloni herself also reacted. She posted a photo of the controversial painting on Instagram with the caption, “No, I definitely don’t look like an angel,” along with a fun emoji.
