Details: According to the diplomat, even during the time of Hugo Chavez, Venezuela began to buy weapons en masse, financing these deals with loans. Only Russia owed the regime significant sums, as purchases, in particular the S-300 air defense systems and Buk batteries, were financed by a loan from the Russian Federation in the amount of about 6 billion euros.

The diplomat emphasizes that the country’s total debt to Russia and China for military contracts has exceeded 20 billion euros. At the same time, a significant part of the funds allocated to the defense sector disappeared due to large-scale corruption.

Literally: “Puhyalya told how he once watched a military parade in Venezuela together with the Russian military attaché. The attache proudly told Pyhyalya that all the weapons on display were Russian, including the Sukhoi fighter jets that Venezuela also bought from Russia.

Details: The exposal noted that the missiles purchased in Russia have been gathering dust in warehouses for years. The ambassador believes that they were not even connected to the radar systems. This resulted in Russian missiles being malfunctioning or unusable during the US operation to capture Maduro.

According to sources in The New York Times, the missiles were not even connected to radars, and the equipment itself proved too complex for the Venezuelan military.

Thus, American helicopters were able to advance unhindered to the Fuerte Tiuna base on the outskirts of Caracas and capture Maduro and his wife.

What preceded:

  • On January 3, the United States conducted a successful operation to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro. Despite the threat of the regime to use 5,000 Russian “Igla-S” missiles, the special forces almost did not resist.
  • Previously, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, ridiculed the work of the Russian air defense system, which did not work during the American special operation in Caracas.
  • On January 24, Donald Trump announced that the US had neutralized Venezuela’s radars and missile systems with the help of a secret weapon – a “discombulator”.
