Donald Trump threatens Canada with 50% tariffs on aircraft

US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Canada, promising to impose a 50% tariff on Canadian aircraft and decertify them in the American market. The reason for the White House’s anger was Ottawa’s delay in certifying Gulfstream aircraft, which Trump regarded as deliberate obstruction of US exports. The US President wrote about this on his Truthsocial page, UNN reports.

DetailsOn Truth Social, Trump stated that Canadian regulators are blocking American business jets in an attempt to give an advantage to their own manufacturer, Bombardier. In addition to imposing tariffs, the president threatened to completely ban Canadian aircraft from flying in US airspace if Gulfstream certification is not completed immediately.
