It is about a temporary waiver of strikes on the energy infrastructure, especially in the winter period. Kyiv expects that the agreements reached will not remain just words. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in a post in Kh.
According to him, the key topic was the safety of Ukrainian cities and the energy system during the winter cold. The President recalled the statement of US President Donald Trump, who spoke in favor of temporary protection of Kyiv and other cities from Russian strikes. “An important statement by US President Donald Trump regarding the possibility of providing security to Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine from Russian strikes during this winter cold weather. Energy is the basis of life, and we appreciate the efforts of our partners to help us protect life,” Zelensky emphasized.
The president confirmed that the issue of the energy truce was the subject of a separate discussion during the meetings in Abu Dhabi. According to him, it is fundamentally important for Ukraine that any agreements are actually implemented. “We expect that the agreements will be fulfilled,” the head of state said.
He stressed that steps to reduce tensions could be part of a broader process aimed at ending the war. “De-escalation steps contribute to a real movement towards the end of the war,” Zelenskyy added.
Previously, Ukraine has repeatedly stated that attacks on the energy infrastructure directly affect the lives of millions of people, especially in winter. In Kyiv, they emphasize that any truce should not be formal, but one that actually works and ensures the protection of the civilian population.
