“Russian troops intensified their attacks on the front, today at 16:00 there were 180 combat clashes, while 117 battles were recorded during the previous day, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Most of the Russian attacks were in the Pokrovsky direction, where since the beginning of the day, the Russian occupiers have made 77 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian soldiers from their occupied positions in the areas of the settlements of Toretske, Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Mirnograd, Rivne, Pokrovsk, Kotlyna, Udachne, Molodetske, Novomykolaivka, and towards the settlements of Kucheriv Yar, Vilne, Bilytske, Novy Donbas, Grishine, Novopodgorodne, Muravka, Ivanivka, Filia. Defense forces are holding back the onslaught and have already repulsed 65 attacks. Last day, Russian forces carried out 22 assault operations on this part of the front. According to the headquarters, there is also a significant increase in attacks in the Gulyaipil direction – Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 attacks, nine more clashes are ongoing. Last day there were 12 fights. Russian invaders attacked 19 times in the Oleksandrivskyi direction, and in the Kostiantynivskyi direction there were 15 offensive actions by the Russian forces (last day there were two and nine attacks, respectively). Fighting continues in the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk, South-Slobozhansk, Kupyansk, Lymansk, Slovyansk, Orihiv and Dnieper directions. On January 22, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the Defense Forces continue to restrain Russian troops in Pokrovsk and Myrnograd in Donetsk region, as small groups of the Russian Federation are trying to infiltrate the northern regions of both cities. He noted that as a result of the active assault actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, another attempt by the Russian invaders to seize these settlements was thwarted. Fighting in Pokrovsk has been going on since October 2025, when the Russian army managed to break through to the city after several months of fighting on its slopes. Almost immediately, Russian soldiers began to be recorded in Pokrovsk’s satellite city of Mirnograd.
