“We have actually delivered nine IRIS-T systems, as far as I know, and more IRIS-T systems are expected to be delivered in the near future,” the ambassador said.

He reminded that at the end of 2025, Germany transferred two additional Patriot complexes to Ukraine.
“I know it’s still not enough. As I said, I also live here and I understand what the situation is, I know the realities. But we are doing everything we can and we are doing our best to support Ukraine – both through direct assistance to the energy sector and through the provision of air defense equipment,” Thoms said.

In December, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine at the time, Denys Shmyhal, announced the strengthening of defense cooperation with Germany and the signing of a number of “new important agreements” with German partners worth more than 1.2 billion euros. It is, in particular, about the long-term supply of spare parts for Patriot systems, which will allow faster repair, modernization and restoration of existing complexes.
