“This information is currently untrue. Completion of military service and discharge from it is determined by the law of Ukraine on military duty and military service and the corresponding provision on the completion of military service by citizens of Ukraine in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine,” said Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in a comment to Radio Liberty.
He noted that today there is no order to release Deineka from military service.
Also, the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Maryana Reva, in a comment to Radio Liberty, confirmed that after being dismissed from the post of head of the State Security Service, Deineko was appointed as an advisor to the minister on public grounds, but there is no such information regarding his dismissal from military service.
She added that an advisor on public grounds is not a full-time and unpaid position.
Earlier in social networks there were reports that the ex-head of the State Security Service Serhii Deineko was allegedly dismissed from military service by the decision of the VLK.
Journalist Vitaliy Glagola, citing his sources in law enforcement circles, reported that on January 27, an order was allegedly issued to dismiss the former head of the State Border Service, Serhiy Deineko, from military service.
“The basis is the state of health. According to the conclusion of the military medical commission, Deineko was declared unfit for military service. The dismissal report submitted by him yesterday is also taken into account,” he wrote in a telegram.
Until the beginning of January, Deineko headed the State Border Service. Then the leadership of the DPSU was changed.
On January 4, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Klymenko, announced that Deineko was appointed as an adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and after a “short rehabilitation” he would be appointed as the commander of a combat unit of the DPSU.
On January 22, the National Anticorruption Bureau and the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office announced the denunciation of a former top official and a current official of the State Security Service of Ukraine for systematically receiving illegal benefits for facilitating the unhindered crossing of the state border. Among the suspects, the law enforcement officers named the former head of the State Border Service.
NABU did not specify the names of the suspects, but the media reported that Serhiy Deineka was searched. He did not comment on these investigative actions.
