Solskjaer missed out on the Man Utd interim head coach job to Michael Carrick earlier this monthCredit: Reuters He was heavily linked with a return to United earlier this month following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
Solskjaer held talks with club officials over becoming interim head coach until the end of the season.
However, the Red Devils chose Michael Carrick for the role instead.
With his future in management now up in the air once again, Solskjaer is focussing on his role with UEFA.
The Norwegian is a technical observer for the Champions League this season.
His job will see him return to England on Wednesday for the European clash between Liverpool and Qarabag at Anfield.
Victory will see the Reds guarantee automatic qualification for the knockout stages.
Former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is also on UEFA’s list of technical observers, as are Gareth Southgate and Roberto Martinez.

Solskjaer offered his support to Carrick after losing out on the Man Utd job.
Recalling a conversation with the ex-manager, who spent almost three years in charge at Old Trafford and managed 168 games, Carrick explained: “Yeah, I’ve spoken to him. I’m close.
“We’ve been through a lot together, so he’s been fully supportive, as you’d expect.
“He’s some man and I respect him an awful lot. He wished me all the best and he was happy that we got the right result.
“I think friendships, you have conversations. I’ve got a lot of friends in places that I can kind of pick on if I need to be.
“I’m not one that bothers a lot of people, to be honest. But he’s certainly there if ever I need him.”
Carrick was a team-mate of Solskjaer’s in his first season at United in 2006-07 and a member of his coaching staff at Old Trafford.
