Liverpool are having one of the worst seasons of the defending champions

Liverpool have collected just 36 points in the 2025/26 EPL season after 23 rounds played, which is one of the worst results in the league’s history among teams defending their title.

The Reds’ 36 points are the 30th result out of 34 in the history of the Premier League.

Only 4 teams were worse than Liverpool after 23 rounds in the post-championship season: Blackburn Rovers (35 points in the 1995/96 season), Chelsea (28 points in the 2015/16 season), Leeds United (28 points in the 1992/93 season) and Leicester City (21 points in the 2016/17 season).

For comparison, we will give the three best results: Chelsea (62 points in the 2005/06 season), Manchester City (57 points in the 2021/22 season) and Manchester United (57 points in the 1993/94 season).
