The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is actively developing a pension reform to increase the minimum pension to UAH 6,000.
This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Family and National Unity, Denys Ulyutin, in an interview with “RBK-Ukraine”.
This will affect at least a third of pensioners — mostly state employees with long years of experience in low-paid positions.
Currently, the basic payment is about UAH 3.4 thousand, so an increase of almost two times will radically improve the lives of millions of Ukrainians.
Minister of Social Policy Denys Ulyutin emphasized: “We will not pay anyone less than 6,000.” Such changes will allow people to buy drugs themselves and reduce dependence on subsidies.
The reform of the solidarity system will eliminate the injustice when people with the same length of service receive different amounts.
Special pensions will not increase – they will be replaced by professional payments, and the accumulation level will become voluntary. The draft law is being finalized, after which it will be agreed with the government and partners such as the IMF and the World Bank.
Moving to a three-tier model will take up to 13 years, but will provide fair accruals based on contributions.
We will remind you that in 2026, the retirement rules for Ukrainians will become stricter, because the requirements for the minimum insurance period for the assignment of benefits increase every year.
Also, in 2026, there were changes in the pension system that affected the amount of individual payments.
