The President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda said that Ukraine should join the European Union by 2030.
He announced this during a joint press conference in Vilnius, where the leaders of Ukraine and Poland were also present.
According to him, Ukraine’s accession to the EU is not only a political step, but a strategic interest for all of Lithuania.
Nauseda emphasized that the future of Ukraine in the European community is of key importance for security and stability in the region.
He noted that Lithuania will actively support Kyiv on its way to membership, especially in 2027, during Lithuania’s presidency of the EU Council.
“Lithuania wants Ukraine to become part of the European Union by 2030. This is an important step for long-term peace, security and prosperity not only of Ukraine, but also of the whole of Europe,” Nauseda stressed.
The President of Lithuania also expressed concern over the increasing intensity of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector.
He called it evidence that Moscow has no intention of adhering to the terms of a just peace and is avoiding any real agreement to end the war.
Nauseda emphasized that Russia’s actions only increase the need for Ukraine to have strong defense forces.
It will be recalled that Orban stated that Ukraine can join the EU by 2027.
