Alaves managed to climb out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 home win over Betis in the matchday 21 of the Spanish La Liga. The match became a turning point for the hosts after a streak of five matches without a win.

The score in the meeting was opened already in the third minute, when Boye gave a pass to Vicente, who put Alaves ahead with a precise shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Immediately after the break, the home team increased their lead: in the 47th minute, Martinez headed in Ibáñez’s pass to make it 2:0.

At the end of the match, Betis got a chance to return the intrigue, but in the 83rd minute, Avila shot past the goal from a good position. Only in the fifth compensated minute did the Sevillians reduce the deficit – Ezzalzouli scored.

With this win, Alaves share 15th place in the standings, narrowly above the relegation zone, while Betis maintain sixth position.
