Naftogaz Group this week increased electricity imports from Europe to stabilize the Ukrainian power system after Russian shelling. The purchased volumes already cover more than half of the needs of the group’s enterprises. This made it possible to release part of the electricity for household consumers. Serhii Koretskyi, the chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, reported this to Facebook.

According to him, the increase in imports took place this week and is part of the overall work to overcome the consequences of shelling and stabilize the energy supply in the country. “Volumes of imported electricity purchases already cover more than 50% of the needs of all enterprises of the group, as stipulated by the government decree. The corresponding amount of electricity has been released for the needs of household consumers,” said Koretskyi.

Naftogaz emphasizes that this approach allows reducing the load on the Ukrainian energy system during peak consumption periods, especially after massive attacks on the energy infrastructure.

The chairman of the board of the company also emphasized that all actions are coordinated with the government and other responsible structures. The goal is to stabilize the situation as soon as possible and ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity to the population and critical facilities. “We are working together with the government to stabilize the power system as quickly as possible after the Russian shelling,” Koretsky added.

The company notes that the import of electricity from Europe remains one of the key tools for supporting the power system in conditions of constant attacks and a difficult winter.
