The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said that Russia’s war against Ukraine is not a local conflict, but a space where the future of global security is being decided.
He wrote about this on Facebook following the results of his speech at the Strategic Dialogue within the framework of the meeting of the NATO Military Committee at the level of commanders-in-chief.
“The war in Ukraine is not a local conflict in Eastern Europe. This is the space where the future of global security is decided. What is happening today near Pokrovsk, Kupiansk or in the waters of the Black Sea will already determine the approaches and actions of the Euro-Atlantic armies tomorrow,” Sirskyi said.
During the speech, he shared with his colleagues a vision of how the face of modern warfare has changed and why old dogmas no longer work, urging to see war as a phenomenon that evolves faster than textbooks can write about it.
Syrsky emphasized that Ukrainian adaptation is based on technology and decentralization.
“We are changing the philosophy of defeat: instead of massed fire “in areas”, we are switching to point destruction of targets with cheap means. The cost of the drone is about 500 dollars, the cost of the destroyed target is millions. Without superiority or at least parity in EW, high-tech weapons turn into scrap. We learned how to create a EW dome to protect equipment and a trench EW for infantry,” he noted.
According to him, “last year, in particular thanks to technology, we managed to reduce total losses by 13% compared to 2024.”
Separately, the commander-in-chief thanked the partner countries “for the support without which we would not have survived.”
“It is obvious that Russia is betting on the fatigue of the West and the depletion of our human resources. But the time for half measures is over. The war in Ukraine proved that numbers matter, but it is technology and the speed of adaptation that decide the outcome. That is why we call on our partners not just to support Ukraine “as much as it takes”, but to provide tools to quickly and forcefully stop the aggressor. NATO’s capabilities, multiplied by our unique combat experience, are a security formula for the entire Euro-Atlantic space,” Sirsky emphasized.
