Direct speech: “Now, 4,436 generators with a total capacity of more than 95 MW are used in the region. This covers a fourth part of the region’s generation needs.

At the same time, this equipment works in an intensified mode, often functioning “for wear and tear”, so it is important to constantly maintain its readiness, maintain it on time, and also have a reserve, because in the cold the load increases and the equipment may fail.”

Details: According to the head of OVA, the energy situation in the region remains difficult due to systemic Russian attacks. Because of this, the Kyiv region is forced to use emergency power outages so that the power system can withstand the load and avoid large-scale accidents.

Available generators provide autonomous operation of heat supply, water supply and drainage facilities, hospitals, schools, social institutions and “Points of Invincibility”. Fuel reserves have been formed for their uninterrupted operation.

Kalashnyk clarified that in addition to generators, the region is increasing stationary capacities. Currently, 51 distributed generation facilities (total capacity of 110 MW) are operating and 89 solar power plants (36.72 MW) have been installed. In addition, the region received 68 mobile SES for social sphere objects. Most of these capacities were installed during 2025.

Autonomous heat supply is also being developed in the region: 36 block-modular boiler houses have already been installed, which can insure stationary networks in case of damage.

Direct speech: “We have separate agreements with international and domestic partners and expect the delivery of additional equipment in the near future.”

What preceded:

  • After the coordination meeting of the G7+ group on energy support of Ukraine, Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko said that the partners will provide new aid packages, which include more than 6,000 units of large energy equipment and contributions to the Energy Support Fund.
  • DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko said in an interview with Reuters that Ukraine is approaching a “humanitarian catastrophe” after months of Russian airstrikes on the energy system.
