The draft resolution was registered by several people’s deputies, including Lyudmila Buimister, Anna Skorokhod, Andriy Zhupanyn, Andriy Gerus, Mykhailo Volynets, Roman Mulyk, Inna Sovsun, and Maksym Khlapuk.
The document states that awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine to Brecht would be a recognition of his heroism, professionalism and dedication. Oleksiy Brecht gave his life working to restore power supply after shelling and ensuring the operation of critical facilities.
Deputies emphasize that his contribution to the stability of the country’s energy system is invaluable, and his feat is an example of devotion and service to the state even in the most difficult conditions. “Aleksii Brecht showed true courage and professionalism while restoring energy during the war. His memory deserves the highest state award,” the explanatory note to the draft resolution states.
If the president supports the initiative, awarding him the title of Hero of Ukraine will be an official recognition of his feat before the country and the people.
It will be recalled that a farewell ceremony was held for the former head of Ukrenergo, Oleksiy Brecht, in the St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kyiv.
