The artist, who played the main role in the British short film “Rock, Scissors, Paper” about the war in Ukraine, shared his thoughts on the Instagram blog:
“Sometimes our dreams may not come true. Is it a coincidence that none of the three films about the war in Ukraine received a nomination? I don’t know. But this is our reality. The reality in which the story about a school teacher from the Chelyabinsk region is in the nomination. And “2000 meters to Andriyivka” is not. Despair. I will not understand this for the rest of my life. But I will still say my word. I promise.”
Rudynskyi also addressed the team of the “Stone, Scissors, Paper” tape, noting that he will never forget the pause that occurred during the announcement of the nominees for the award.
“But let’s also remember how we felt a year ago. It’s heartbreaking. But a part of my heart will always belong to you. Franz, Heider, Sunshine, Marcin and everyone who made this story about my country. I love you all! We’ll see each other again!” – added Oleksandr.
As UNIAN reported, three films were submitted to the Oscars at once, which talk about Russia’s war against Ukraine: the British short film “Stone, Scissors, Paper”, Mstislav Chernov’s documentary film “2000 meters to Andriivka” and Anastasia Falileeva’s short animation “I died in Irpen”. None of them made it to the list of nominees.
Meanwhile, in the “best documentary” nomination is “Mr. Nobody Against Putin”, co-authored by the Russian Pavlo Talankin. The tape shows the story of a teacher at a Russian school who records the strengthening of military propaganda against children.
