22 Russian attacks were recorded since the beginning of the day on January 23 in the Pokrovsky and Konstantinov directions, according to the data of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 16:00.

“In the direction of Kostyantynivka, our defenders repelled 22 enemy attempts to penetrate our defenses in the areas of settlements of Kostyantynivka, Kleban-Bik, Pleshchiivka, Sofiivka and in the direction of Illinivka, Stepanivka. Three skirmishes are ongoing. In the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of the day, the Russian occupiers have made 22 attempts to dislodge our soldiers from their occupied positions in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Sukhetske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyna, Udachne, Molodetske, Filia and towards the settlements of Shevchenko, Novopavlivka. “Clashes are currently ongoing in some locations,” the message reads.

In addition, according to the command of the Armed Forces, there were 11 Russian attacks in the Gulyaipil direction.

Fighting also took place in Yuzhno-Slobozhansk, Lymansk, Oleksandrivsk, Orichivsk directions. In total, there were 70 battles at the front.

On January 22, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the Defense Forces continue to restrain Russian troops in Pokrovsk and Myrnograd in Donetsk region, as small groups of the Russian Federation are trying to infiltrate the northern regions of both cities. He noted that as a result of the active assault actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, another attempt by the Russian invaders to seize these settlements was thwarted.

The day before, the “East” military group reported that Ukrainian units continue active operations in the area of ​​the Pokrovsk-Myrnograd agglomeration and control the northern parts of both cities.

On January 19, Syrskyi reported that a grueling confrontation is ongoing in the Pokrovsk-Myrnograd agglomeration area: the Russian army is pulling up reserves to Pokrovsk, looking for opportunities to break through Ukrainian defenses both through sporadic mass assaults and through the covert advance of small infantry groups.

Fighting in Pokrovsk has been going on since October 2025, when the Russian army managed to break through to the city after several months of fighting on its slopes. Almost immediately, Russian soldiers began to be recorded in Pokrovsk’s satellite city of Mirnograd. The Pokrovsky direction, according to the reports of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, constantly leads in terms of the number of Russian assaults.
