The band is already 24 years old / UNIAN collage / ScreenshotsThe British rock group Arctic Monkeys presented their first song since the release of the album “The Car” in 2022. It was called “Opening Night”.
As The Guardian writes, all funds from the release will go to support the War Child charity, which helps children affected by war. The song was included on the compilation HELP(2), which is the follow-up to the legendary 1995 charity album Help, which raised approximately $1.5 million for children in conflict zones.
The original release brought together artists such as Radiohead, Blur, Sinéad O’Connor and the supergroup Smokin’ Mojo Filters, which included Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller. The new compilation, which is scheduled to be released on March 6, features members of the first Help – including Portishead’s Beth Gibbons, Blur’s Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon – as well as cult artists Pulp, Beck and Depeche Mode. Among the younger generation of artists are Olivia Rodrigo, Fontaines DC, Wet Leg, Sampha and others.
Oscar-winning director Jonathan Glazer, who worked with children in war zones in Ukraine, Gaza, Yemen and Sudan, made a special contribution to the project. Children in Great Britain were also involved in documenting the process of creating the album. In a statement, Arctic Monkeys said:
“We are proud to be able to support the extremely important work of War Child and hope that this record will help make a difference in the lives of children affected by war.”
It will be recalled that recently it became known about the death of the guitarist of the famous British rock band The Cure.
