After the extraordinary meeting of the European Council, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the work on the package of proposals for Ukraine regarding security and prosperity is progressing successfully. According to her, the meeting in Paris brought significant progress, the answer now lies with Russia.
On January 6, negotiations of the “Coalition of the Willing” took place in Paris regarding the plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and guarantees for Ukraine. The special representative of the US President Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner joined the meeting.
As a result of the meeting, the Paris Declaration on “reliable security guarantees for durable and long-lasting peace in Ukraine” was published, which, in particular, provides for the deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities “with the proposed support of the United States”, participation in the mechanism for monitoring and verification of the ceasefire proposed by the United States, and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
