Direct speech: “Let’s start with the fact that any international agreement requires a resolution of the Council of Ministers, and there is no such resolution today. Secondly, we are talking about very serious legal obligations that must be analyzed in detail. And if we answer directly: there is definitely not a billion dollars in the budget for this. There are more important tasks that need to be financed than participation in this council.”

“In view of the growing social and economic needs, there is no justification for spending a billion dollars on membership in the international council,” he added.

- Documents on the establishment of the Peace Council under the leadership of US President Donald Trump were signed on Thursday in Davos.
- Representatives of less than 20 countries attended the signing ceremony. The Prime Ministers of Hungary and Bulgaria took part in the ceremony from the European Union. In addition, there were also representatives of four European countries from outside the EU – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kosovo.
- The peace council, according to Trump’s plan, should focus on the consolidation of peace in Gaza and its reconstruction, and later – to take on a broader role for the settlement of global conflicts.
- According to the draft statute seen by Reuters, Trump will head the Council for life, even if he is no longer the president of the United States.
- Ukraine is also among those invited to the Council. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv can consider membership in the organization only after the war, because Belarus and Russia are among the invited countries.
