Divers of the State Emergency Service spent six days in icy water repairing a pipe of one of the Kyiv thermal power plants damaged by Russian shelling.

Literally the Ministry of Internal Affairs: “A unique underwater special operation in frost conditions down to -15 °C was carried out by divers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. As a result of Russian shelling, one of the capital’s thermal power plants was flooded due to pipe damage. This significantly complicated the repair of equipment on which heat and electricity supply in the homes of thousands of people depends.”

Details: According to the report, divers spent six days in icy water and in extreme conditions, carrying out damage elimination work. The water leak was stopped, allowing services to continue with restoration work.

For this, the rescuers received awards from President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. According to his decree, Artem Orlov, Denys Frolov, and Mykhailo Khizhnyak were awarded the Order of Courage III degree. Andriy Vlasenko received the Danylo Halytskyi Order, and Anton Gaitan – the “Defender of the Fatherland” medal.
