During the day of January 21, 154 combat clashes were recorded at the front, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Yesterday, the enemy launched two missile and 84 air strikes against the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using two missiles and dropping 197 guided air bombs. In addition, 6,183 kamikaze drones were brought in to strike and 3,552 attacks were made on the positions of our troops and populated areas, including 21 from rocket salvo fire systems… Aviation and missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces hit four areas of concentration of enemy personnel and equipment, a means of air defense, and one enemy control point,” the morning summary reads.

Almost half of the battles took place in two directions – Pokrovsky in Donetsk region and Gulyaipilsky in Zaporizhzhia.

“In the Pokrovsky direction, our defenders stopped 38 assault actions of the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Myrnograd, Pokrovsk, Kotlyna, Udachne, Molodetske, Filia and in the direction of Bilytsky, Ivanivka, Sergiivka, and Novopidgorodny.

In the direction of Gulyaipil, the Defense Forces repelled 36 attacks by Russians in the areas of Gulyaipol, Sweetsky and in the direction of Dobropill, Zeleny, Pryluk, Varvarivka, and Sviatpetrivka,” the message states.

Fighting also continued in the South-Slobozhansk, Kupyansk, Lymansk, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivsk, Oleksandrivsk, and Prydniprovsk directions.

On January 19, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported that a grueling confrontation is ongoing in the Pokrovsk-Myrnograd agglomeration area. According to him, the Russian army is trying to build up pressure – it is pulling reserves to Pokrovsk, looking for opportunities to break through the Ukrainian defense both through sporadic mass assaults and through covert advances by small infantry groups.

On the evening of January 21, the “East” military group reported that Ukrainian units continue active operations in the area of the Pokrovsk-Myrnograd agglomeration, and the Russian army “suffers significant losses.”
