Details: According to US officials, invitations (to participate in the “Peace Council” – ed.) were sent over the weekend to more than 50 world leaders. A representative of the White House said that about 30 countries are expected to participate.

The initiative has drawn a cautious response from several US allies, who have not openly supported the council or accepted Trump’s invitation, as leaders question the need for an alternative UN body.

Trump’s direct speech: “I think the peace council will be the most prestigious council ever, and it will do a lot of the work that the United Nations should do.

And we will cooperate with the United Nations. But the Peace Council will be special. We will have peace.”

Details: When asked by a reporter at the White House on Tuesday if he would replace the U.N. council, Trump said, “Maybe.”

France, Norway and Sweden withdrew or expressed strong reservations about the council, while other countries such as Germany, Great Britain and Italy remained neutral.

The Kremlin confirmed this week that the invitation had been extended to Russia, despite Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The publication adds that the full list of invitees has not been made public by the White House. It is not known how many countries will sign the agreement during a ceremony planned for Thursday.

A copy of the draft charter seen by ABC News says the Peace Council has a much broader mandate as an “international organization” and “peacemaking body” that seeks to resolve world conflicts and ensure lasting peace, similar to an alternative to the U.S.-led United Nations.

Trump, who is expected to lead the Council, could potentially hold the post for life.

“President Trump can serve as chairman until he resigns. However, a future US president can appoint or appoint a US representative to the Council,” the US official said.

What preceded: It was reported that Trump invited 49 countries and the European Commission to the “Peace Council” regarding Gaza, Ukraine is among the invitees, but there is no response from it yet.

We will remind:

  • It was previously reported that Russia and Belarus are among those invited to Trump’s “Peace Council”.
  • On January 20, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, was the first to sign the document on the country’s accession to the “Peace Council” at the invitation of the American leader, Donald Trump.
  • According to the plans of the US president, the Peace Council for the Gaza Strip should be created under the broader umbrella of the “Peace Council”, for the participation of which Trump is going to demand a billion dollars from the states for permanent membership.
  • The leader of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, said that the Russian Federation could send $1 billion from Russian assets frozen in the United States to the “Peace Council” regarding the Gaza Strip.
