According to him, the Russian army is trying to build up pressure – it is pulling reserves to Pokrovsk, looking for opportunities to break through the Ukrainian defense both through sporadic mass assaults and through covert advances by small infantry groups.
On the evening of January 21, the “East” military group reported that Ukrainian units continue active operations in the area of the Pokrovsk-Myrnograd agglomeration, and the Russian army “suffers significant losses.”
In particular, according to the summary, the Defense Forces continue to control the northern part of Pokrovsk. “In Myrnograd, Ukrainian units control the northern part of the city. The search and strike operations of the Defense Forces are ongoing in order to prevent the further advance of the enemy,” the military said.
Fighting in Pokrovsk has been going on since October 2025, when the Russian army managed to break through to the city after several months of fighting on its slopes. Almost immediately, Russian soldiers began to be recorded in Pokrovsk’s satellite city of Mirnograd.
