Transcarpathian football player and coach Yuriy Chonka died at the age of 35. This was reported by the Transcarpathian Football Association and the press service of FC Sevlyush.

“We have suffered a heavy and painful loss – our football player Yuriy Chonka has passed away. He will forever be remembered as a talented player and a real fighter on the field,” says FC Sevlyush’s Facebook page.

In different years, Yuriy Chonka played for Metalist, Beregvideik, Uzhhorod and Sevlyush. He also worked as a coach of the youth team of Sevlyush from Vyrodiv.

In 2011, Chonka signed a five-year contract with Metalist and played one match for the main team — in the Ukrainian Cup against Beregvideyk. In the 2020/21 season, he helped Uzhgorod to second place in Group A of the Second League, scoring five goals and six assists.
