OFFICIALLY. The coaches of the youth national teams of Ukraine for 2026 have been appointed

National teams of Ukraine U-16, U-18, U-20 will play at the European Championships in Division B”, — write: sport.ua

A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine was held, at which the head coaches of the men’s youth national teams of Ukraine in the summer of 2026 were approved.

The head coaches of the men’s youth national teams have been appointed:

  • Ukrainian national team U-16 – Volodymyr Reshetnyk
  • Ukrainian national team U-18 – Oleg Shevchenko
  • Ukrainian U-20 national team – Dmytro Zabirchenko

Oleksandr Sabutskyi became acting head coach of U-15 (boys born in 2011 and younger).

Men’s national team of Ukraine U-20

Head coach – Dmytro Zabirchenko

Dmytro Zabirchenko, who worked with the Ukrainian U-18 national team last year, will lead the U-20 men’s youth national team in 2026. The team will perform at the European Championship in Division B, which will take place on July 10-19 in Bratislava (Slovakia).

Zabirchenko started his coaching career in 2017. He worked as the head coach of BC Druzhkivka (2017/18), BC Ternopil (2018–2022), BC Budivelnyk (2022–2023), and since 2023 he has been the head of BC Kyiv-Basket.

Achievements in club career: Premier League champion (2020), Super League champion (2023), Super League bronze medalist (2024), Super League silver medalist (2025).

He has considerable experience of working in national teams of Ukraine. In 2017, he was a member of the coaching staff of the student national team, and in 2019, he was an assistant in the U-20 youth national team. As a head coach, he led the U-18 (2021), U-20 (2023) and U-16 (2024) national teams.

In 2023, under his leadership, the youth national team of Ukraine U-20 won the bronze medals of the European Championship in Division B.

Men’s national team of Ukraine U-18

Head coach – Oleg Shevchenko

The men’s youth national team of Ukraine U-18 will play at the European Championship in Division B on July 27 – August 2 in Rijeka and Opatija (Croatia).

Oleg Shevchenko started coaching in 2006 at the Odesa school YuG-Basket, where he was the head for many years. Rostislav Kabanov is among his students.

In 2022, he joined the coaching staff of BIPA-Odesa, later became the head coach of the team he worked with in the Super League. He currently continues coaching in Spain.

In 2023, he joined the coaching staff of Dmytro Zabirchenko in the youth national team of Ukraine U-20. He also works with the youth national teams of Ukraine of younger age categories.

In the summer of 2025, the Ukrainian U-16 cadet national team led by Oleh Shevchenko took sixth place at the European Championship in Division B.

Men’s national team of Ukraine U-16

Head coach – Volodymyr Reshetnyk

The Ukrainian U-16 cadet national team will take part in the European Championship in Division B on August 6-15. The venue of the tournament will be determined later.

Volodymyr Reshetnyk took his first steps in coaching in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, where he worked for 4.5 years. After returning to Ukraine, he worked in the capital’s KSL and “Kyiv-Basket”, and also coached the PushTeam team in the Higher League.

In the role of assistant head coach, he won silver medals of the Women’s Cup of Ukraine and silver medals of the Men’s Super League.

He has been working with the cadet national team of Ukraine of this age category since last year, held a number of educational and training meetings and took part in international tournaments.
