The USA detained the Sagitta tanker from the “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation in the Caribbean Sea

The US military command reported the detention of the Sagitta oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea, which is part of the “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation.

Details: On the War&Sanctions website, the Sagitta tanker was called one of those transporting Russian oil to circumvent sanctions imposed by a number of countries. In particular, Ukraine, Great Britain, USA, Canada, EU, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.

Prehistory:

• On January 7, the American military took control of two tankers, including the Russian-flagged vessel Bella 1which they pursued for more than two weeks. The vessels are accused of violating the sanctions policy.
• January 9, USA seized the Olina tanker in the Caribbean Sea, which, according to the public shipping database Equasis, was flying the flag of Timor-Leste, having previously sailed from Venezuela and returned to the region.
