Details: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday shared a fragment of a conversation with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, in which the French president expressed confusion over Washington’s actions regarding Greenland. In the message, Macron also offers the G7 countries to gather in Paris on Thursday, January 22, with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, Russia, Denmark and Syria, and the two heads of state to have dinner together.

When journalists asked the French president about the “leaking” of this correspondence, he replied that he was responsible for his actions and words.

“I take responsibility for everything I do. I’m used to being consistent in what I say in public and what I do in private,” Macron said.

When asked if he considered this action on the part of the US president “impolite”, the French leader replied that he left the right to others to assess the situation.

Macron was also asked if he plans to meet with Trump in Davos. He replied with a refusal, noting that the American leader was coming when he was already leaving the forum.

However, according to Macron, they still have a chance to talk in the format of the G7 summit.

“This could be an opportunity, but I think we should be extremely calm and stand our ground. And in particular, economically, continue to move forward to ensure more growth in Europe, defend our interests when the rules are not followed and support our friends when they are under pressure,” the French leader said.

We will remind, in his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Emmanuel Macron accused the USA of seeking to weaken Europe. The French president also warned Washington about the EU’s response to American tariffs.

The day before, Trump advised Europe to focus on the Russian-Ukrainian war, not on Greenland.
